The existing logo and identity that the committee was using was only a temporary one and did not effectively connote their principles. They needed of a symbol that reflected their values of determination, courage, inspiration, and equality. The symbol also had to link with the culture of Bahrain.
The flame torch is one of the most recognizable and inspirational symbols of the modern Paralympic games. This was chosen as the base of the new symbol. With the use of Arabic calligraphy, the flame was designed – symbolising courage and determination. The link with Bahrain was further established through the use of the national flag. The handle of the torch took the shape of a person celebrating victory – to inspire para-athletes to achieve growth and success through competition.
The new symbol was proudly adopted across multiple touchpoints – from official stationery to the jerseys that para-athletes wore. It perfectly represented the spirit of motivation and perseverance that the Bahrain Paralympic Committee was looking to inculcate.
